How to apply to UCLA Extension

To apply for a UCLA Extension program, complete the corresponding application, scan it and send it via email with a readable copy of your passport page clearly showing your name, date of birth, passport expiration, date, and photograph (a clear copy of your spouse's/dependents' passport pages(s), if they will come with an F-2 visa)

We'll do the rest. Once the application has been accepted by the relevant department at UCLA Extension. Will be sent via DHL program details, welcome letter and the document I-20. This document is required to process student visa F-1 at the U.S. Embassy.

 

To apply for an English program

To send the application of the English program we need the following:

  1. A complete, legible, and accurate ALC Enrollment Application Form: please type or print clearly in blue or black ink or complete application online and print. Program Selection: indicate the program(s) and session(s) you will attend including the start and end dates. Student signature: cannot be signed by another person

  2. Payment Information: the nonrefundable $150 application fee is required with your application; program fees are due by the payment deadline.
  3. Financial certification: required for AIEP and IECP applicants only.

Your application cannot be processed until all of the required documents have been received. All American Language Center intensive programs require a student (F-1) visa or permanent resident status. Both applicants must be at least 18 years of age by the start date of the program.

To apply to a Certificate Program at UCLA Extension

To send the application of the certificate program we need the following::

  2. Payment information. $ 1,740 dollars are required by UCLA Extension for processing the application. $ 1300 correspond to the enrollment of international students, $ 400 for medical insurance for the first quarter and $ 40 dollars, corresponding to send the documents by mail. The application must be send it to us before the recommended date which is 8 weeks before the program begins. Payment for each course must be made at the beginning of each quarter.

  1. English Requirement

Programs require a minimum score on the TOEFL or IELTS,Academic Module only, dated within the last two years. See "Approved Certificate Program" listing for required minimum scores. A IBT TOEFL 100, or IELTS 7 exempts you from additional English testing and requirements. Institutional TOEFLs are not accepted. A TOEFL score or IELTS score between the minimum(TOEFL 79, IELTS 6.5) and exempt scores admits you to your program, but you will have to take UCLA's English as a Second Language Placement Exam (ESLPE) before your courses start. Your ESLPE score will exempt you from English or require you to take one or two ESL courses along with your certificate program courses. The ESL requirement must be fulfilled during your first two quarters. ESL courses apply to the 12-unit-per-quarter requirement.
